Athena Manufacturing’s Technology Investments Strengthen Quality and Efficiency

As Athena Manufacturing continues to grow, our technology needs to grow with us. That means evaluating the systems we already use and investing in new tools where they can make a meaningful difference.

Recently, we’ve made several technology investments across quality, human resources, and engineering. These systems each serve their own unique purposes, but they share the common goal of making Athena more scalable and efficient for our customers and team members.

Quality Starts with the Right Information

investments

One of Athena’s most impactful technology investments as of late has been the integration of 1Factory into our quality processes. The platform gives our quality team and shop floor professionals faster access to inspection information and makes it easier to record data directly at the machine.

Bringing Quality Data Closer to the Shop Floor

Our previous quality system provided many of the same basic functions, but accessing and recording information could be more cumbersome. With 1Factory, we’re able to push inspection information directly to where the work is happening. Operators can record data at the machine, giving our team better visibility into quality performance and helping information move more quickly through the organization.

When quality information is easier to access and record, our team can identify issues sooner and respond before they become larger problems. That speed makes all the difference for our customers, especially those operating in challenging environments like aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor.

Steady Growth, Free from Disruptions in Quality

Rapid hiring and growth can create additional challenges. However, since the beginning of 2026, Athena has reduced problem parts and scrap by approximately 50%, even while onboarding roughly 30% new staff.

By improving the systems supporting our employees, such as introducing solutions like 1Factory, we’re helping maintain and improve quality as the organization grows. For our customers, that translates into fewer disruptions and greater consistency.

Better HR Technology Upgrades the Employee Experience

Our investments are not limited to the production floor. As our workforce grows, we also need systems that make it easier for employees to access the information and resources they need. That’s one reason Athena Manufacturing has upgraded its HR technology to Paylocity.

Our previous system worked, but it wasn’t built for the scalability and level of accessibility we need as Athena continues to grow. Paylocity gives us the opportunity to bring more HR functions, such as recruiting, benefits, payroll, and learning and development, together in one platform. This creates a more connected experience for our employees while giving Athena the infrastructure needed to support our robust workforce.

Technology Improves the Machining Process

Our recent technology investments also extend into our programming and machining processes. Athena recently upgraded our hyperMILL capabilities with the latest 2026 software package, including the Hale Machining licensing. We’re looking for ways to use this technology to eliminate manual work and make our processes more consistent and efficient.

One example involves a finishing operation on raceway features commonly found on semiconductor components. Historically, portions of this work have required manual detailing. With the upgraded hyperMILL capabilities, we’re beginning to move more of that process into machining. That can reduce the amount of manual finishing required while creating more consistent results. It also allows our team to spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time applying their technical expertise to higher-value challenges.

Technology Solves Real Problems and Builds a More Scalable Athena

Technology investments at Athena Manufacturing don’t mean collecting new software or equipment simply because they’re available. Every investment needs to answer a practical question: How will this make us better?

Athena is growing. That means we need the technology, processes, and people to grow with us to ensure we’re better equipped to handle today’s requirements and prepare for what’s coming next.
